University at Loftwick

The University at Loftwick is a prestigious center of academic study and learning in the heart of Loftwick's old city. The University serves as the starting point for a number of academic specialties that a PC, or any Yeoman resident, may wish to pursue. The University is a small complex of stone buildings in the heart of the capital and is well-respected amongst scholars in the Sheldomar Valley.
Prerequisites
- Characters must hail from the Yeomanry. Switching regions from the Yeomanry results in expulsion from the group and all the benefits that come with it.
- In order to be considered for University Admission, prospective students must have a minimum of 4 ranks in Knowledge skills, two of which must be in the same field.
Requirements
- The PC must take Basic Scholastic Procedures and Fundamentals of University Learning (requiring 4 TUs) and must pay an initial 250gp to cover tuition and basic supplies before enjoying any of the benefits listed below. These TUs do NOT count towards the acquisition of knowledge skills.
- After taking courses at the University for one year, a PC becomes an ALUMNUS. To maintain active status at the University, they are expected to attend and host seminars and make contributions to the University (A Yearly Cost of 1 TU and 100gp).
Benefits
- For each 50gp and 2 TUs spent (see above), the student gains a +2 circumstance bonus to any of the following knowledge skills: arcana, architecture, engineering, geography, history, nature, religion. You may not spend more than 100gp and 4 TUs per year in this manner, and you may never gain more than a +2 bonus on any one skill.
- Students and alumni gain access to all mundane items from Tome & Blood EXCEPT the secret component compartment and the secret component pocket.
- Students and alumni gain access to the following magic items: Pearl of Power (1st or 2nd), Bracers of Armor +2, Amulet of Natural Armor +2, Robe of Useful Items, Cloak of Resistance +2, Bag of Holding (type 1).
University admission will open the door for other academic endeavors a PC may wish to pursue, such as the more specialized Academy of Lore or College of High Magic. See these individual metagroups for information concerning this.
